Bright Lights: The Nursing Beat with Tamara Al-Yassin

Bright Lights is an ongoing series that highlights the activities, causes, and passions that fall outside of Inlightened Experts’ dedicated day jobs, and truly set them apart. These initiatives represent experts’ abilities to transform their interests and experience into meaningful ventures that drive positive change. This installment of Bright Lights features Tamara Al-Yassin, MBA, BSN, and her VC-backed digital media company and community dedicated to improving the healthcare ecosystem, The Nursing Beat.

How did The Nursing Beat come to be? Take us from idea to execution.

Today, content disrupts the world through memes, tweets, and TikTok videos. You no longer follow institutions. You follow people.

But, do you follow the right people?

We are a collective of curious creatives, who make the ever-evolving world of healthcare easy to digest so that professionals are always armed with the most up-to-date information.

nursing-beatFormerly Florence Health, The Nursing Beat was brought to life by a collective of nurses with a desire to create a community that ultimately improves the healthcare ecosystem and enhances patient outcomes. We, as nurses, have our own culture. Our own jokes. Our own lifestyle that’s uniquely different.

The Nursing Beat strives to capture this rhythm. In a voice that we recognize and relate to. From a perspective that we trust. For we are the undercurrent that makes the beating heart of healthcare tick.

Can you provide a brief overview of your mission?

We connect. We inform. We empower. We drive change. We take care of healthcare professionals so that they are armed to take care of our community.
